Priorities (a five-minute #freewrite)

Joey hovered infront of the pantry, wiggling the door back and forth with an impatient twirk, and released a forlorn sigh so melancholic you’d think someone had just died.

“I’m hungry.”

I rolled my eyes and returned to my coffee.

“You just ate four rashers of bacon, three hash browns, two eggs, and three of those gross sausages that you like so much but are full of tendrils and tendons and ick.”

“Lips ‘n arseholes.”

“Right. Whatever. You shouldn’t be hungry.”

Footsteps stomped out of the kitchen and towards the hallway, and then it sounded like he decided to rummage through the linen closet. As if there would be any food in there, I smirked.

“What are you doing?”

There was no answer, but the rummaging grew louder and things started landing on the floor with great heavy thumps. Something smashed against the wall.

“Joey?”

Still no answer.

Did I really want to get up and find out what was happening? This was my house too. But sometimes it was better just not to know. I would walk over there and regret moving in with this madman after I finished my coffee.

It’s Day 450 of @mariannewest’s five-minute #freewrite and the prompt for today is — hungry!

I was hungry while writing this. My body still hasn’t really adjusted from having caffeine every morning. I feel at a loss most mornings, “Where’s my caffeine? What am I supposed to drink/eat now?”

Nothing else is satisfying!
