Raising the coffee to my lips, I drained the entire cup in one long, deep gulp. The hot liquid coursed down my throat and infused my veins with life and vigor, allowing me to at last respond to the insulting words Jess had laid down upon me.
“Puppy love,” I shrieked, unaware that my voice could reach such a pitch. “You’re wrong! Richard loves me and I love him. We’re soulmates!”
Jess shook her head and kept her eyes fixed above my head with a small, smug smile painted across her face.
“Why is it called puppy love, anyway? I love puppies, but not like that. I’m not a goddamned furry. It’s insulting!”
Her eyes remained above my head. She was ignoring me! The bitch.
“If you really must ridicule my feelings, go ahead and call it a crush, but don’t sneer at me and say that it’s puppy love!” I shouted.
“You’re making a scene,” Jess sniffed. “Also, your crush is on the balcony over there, kissing some red-head.”
I spun around and narrowed my eyes. Sure enough, there he was, there she was, and before I knew what was happening, my empty coffee cup flew through the air and smacked Richard in the dead-centre of his forehead.
It’s day 457 of @mariannewest’s five-minute #freewrite challenge! The prompt for today is — puppy love — and this is what I came up before the eggtimer website went beep-beep at me! 🙂
You can find the challenge at the following link:
Anyone else game? I sure am! I’ve been story plotting, planning on being slightly better prepared this time around, and have even been image designing.
Remember Certain Chaos the freewrite? I’ve been brainstorming with my partner and have come up with some good ideas for Certain Chaos the Full Story! Will write a more in-depth post later if #marchmadness becomes a thing. 🙂
I hope it becomes a thing.
